A collection of 19 short plays in which Housman captures the feel & manner of the Victorian Age. Housman [ 1865 - 1959 ] playwright & illustrator, who courted controversy with some of his plays as they contained Biblical Characters & members of the British Royal Family as characters. 625 grams.

Slightly shelf-cocked. "Second Impression" stated on front flap of DJ and copyright page. DJ is toned, and chipped along edges, but illustration on front remains bright and eye-catching. Title page not dated. Copyright page dated 1941. 222 pages. Signed "Kip" (with inscription) on front free endpaper -- Kip was the nickname of Shepard, from the musical hall term giddy kipper meaning someone who was excitable. Shepard is most well known for his illustrations in The Wind in the Willows and Winnie the Pooh. Many illustrations throughout, ranging in size from marginal to full page. A good copy.
